Animation Masters:  Miyazaki, Spirit of Nature

Animation Nation continues at ArtScience Cinema this December with limited screenings of Miyazaki, Spirit of Nature. The documentary explores the life and influential works of Japanese director and animator, Hayao Miyazaki. The film was also featured in this year’s Venice International Film Festival. 

Through film excerpts and rare Japanese television archives, the film examines Miyazaki’s body of works and its profound relationship with the natural world and humanity. Exclusive interviews with contemporary scholars such as philosopher, Timonthy Morton, anthropologist, Philippe Descola, and longtime producer and friend, Toshio Suzuki reveal more about this enigmatic and passionate animator, and his creative process.
