Building the next generation of hospitality leaders
- Since 2018, Marina Bay Sands has worked with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) on a bursary for undergraduates pursuing a degree in hospitality. 60 SIT students have benefitted from the integrated resort’s total contribution of S$300,000.
- Marina Bay Sands introduced a Career Kickstarter programme, a series of workshops and interactive dialogue sessions for underprivileged youth in 2016. The objective was to inspire youth to overcome their limitations and expose them to the different career options available at an integrated resort. Through a series of tailored workshops, educational tours and thought-provoking conversations with its senior executives, the integrated resort has inspired over 500 youth on their career journeys since 2016.
In Conversation With series
Marina Bay Sands’ ongoing In Conversation With series features prominent speakers from creative industries spanning art, film, food, and music. These sessions give children and youth the opportunity to gain insights into the worlds of personalities who have made their mark in their respective fields. Since its debut in 2015, the In Conversation With series has featured homegrown hip-hop artist Yung Raja; multi-Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay; actors Aamir Khan, Adrian Grenier, Dev Patel, Michelle Yeoh and Choi Siwon; screenwriters Lord Julian Fellowes and Adele Lim; producer Osnat Shurer; singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae; and award-winning filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.
Creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences
Thousands of Marvel fans assembled in full force to catch the cast and directors of Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, at the Fan Event held at Sands Expo and Convention Centre on Thursday, 14 Feb 2019. Amongst them were 10 lucky beneficiaries from AWWA who were inducted as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and awarded agent certificates by none other than Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel films. Sands for Singapore prides itself in creating once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for our beneficiaries. Such events serve as a fun day out for families and provides caregivers some much-needed respite from their day-to-day duties.
